Young Living Essential Oils for anxiety

I love the Lavender oil. I have some issues with anxiety and I swear by the stuff. It actually stopped an anxiety attack in its tracks! --Meridith Enny, Oils from God YLEO customer [now a distributor!]

Checking through our Essential Oils Desk Reference, I have found that Young Living Lavender Oil is listed as beneficial regarding the following emotional responses: Agitation, Anger, Anxiety, Boredom, Concentration, Day-Dreaming, Depression, Despair, Disappointment, Discouragement, Frustration, Grief/Sorrow, Mood Swings, Obsessiveness, Panic, and Restlessness. One can readily see why this is a great oil for the medicine chest.

Also listed in the EODR as helpful for anxiety is Orange, Roman Chamomile, and Ylang Ylang. In addition to Lavender, we use YL's Orange Oil on an almost daily basis placing 3-4 drops of oil in a 6-ounce glass of Rice Dream rice milk. We also add in a drop or two of YL's Lemon Oil (good for depression, despair, discouragement), stir it up and drink it down. Our 20-something sons enjoy this beverage saying it is their favorite YL concoction. We've also used Ylang Ylang, a very nicely-fragranced oil, but for anxiety, our suggestion would be to first try YL's Lavender Oil. (We've yet to try Roman Chamomile.)

If you purchase lavender [a brand other than Young Living] through a health food store, etc., it will probably do little to help you, and it can even do harm. That is because it most likely is not therapeutic grade and will be extended with lesser oils and also chemicals.

How to use: Young Living Essential Lavender Oil can be placed neat (no dilution) on your wrists, under your nose, the back of one's neck, on your shoulders, the bottoms of one's feet, just about anywhere. You can also put a couple drops into your left hand and rub clockwise with the flat palm of your right hand. Cup your hand together over the nose and mouth and inhale deeply 4-6 times and repeat during the day as necessary. (Do not touch your eyes!)

Lavender is also wonderful for burns. So if you grab the pot on the stove and forget the holder is wet, put Lavender straight on the burn immediately. Also great for inside cuts on the mouth. So if you miss the chewing gum and chomp on your cheek instead, put a drop right inside your mouth on the wound. You'll be back chewing comfortably in no time.

After using Young Living's oils, I no longer require Xanax, Valium, or chemical sleep aids, nor do I miss any of them. (YL's RutaVaLa roll-on on your wrists is great for helping one fall asleep and Melissa and Frankincense are two oils more costly, but outstanding for the nervous system.)

Young Living Abundance Essential Oil for depression?

I came upon Young Living Abundance Essential Oil quite by accident. It was a complementary (in abundance?) oil from YL after I had ordered a certain PV amount. When I initially smelled this oil, I thought it a little funky; maybe it was the patchouli oil that was triggering "the 60s" in my brain. (Abundance also includes frankincense, orange, spruce, cinnamon, myrrh, clove and ginger oils.)

Anyway, I put the oil away, and didn't crack it open again until my beloved YL Frankincense Oil went dry one day. Well, it didn't take long before I became a huge "abundant" fan of Young Living Abundance Oil (I mix it with unscented body lotion from Everybody), and recently I did a search on the Net to find out if there were "others" like me.

I found a post by Melodie Kantner [a 13-year YL distributor] entitled, "Why Abundance Oil Holds a Special Place in My Heart," where she explains, "Abundance oil was introduced to me at a time when I was hopelessly depressed ... [even experiencing] suicidal feelings ..." Melodie's mother received some oils from YL, and she brought them to her daughter to see if they might help. Melodie was drawn to the Abundance Oil stating, "within minutes [after using it] my mood was lifted up so much I was giggling and dancing ..."

Smiling, I thought to myself, "yes, Abundance sisterhood!" I then thought what a great oil this would be to advise for those depressed (Abundance has brought a smile to my face too, and, er, okay, I've done a little dancing as well), so I looked in my Essential Oils Desk Reference, to see what they had to say on the subject. But to my surprise, not only was Abundance left out of the suggested oils for depression, but it was left out of every other emotional response leading up to it, such as abuse, agitation, anger, anxiety, apathy, argumentative, boredom, concentration, confusion, and day-dreaming. Yet, frankincense is mentioned in more emotional challenges than not.

Maybe it was the frankincense and/or orange in Abundance that aided Ms. Kantner and myself, two oils that are indeed listed for help with depression in the EODR. I haven't the answer in that regard (maybe Melodie does!), but I'll leave you with YL's Overview on Abundance Oil and let you make up your own mind on whether to give it a whirl or not:

[Update: Just days after publishing this post, our priest, who speaks in a wonderfully simplistic fashion, said in regard to depression (it was the theme of his homily), that one cannot remain depressed if they say every day (numerous times as needed), "Jesus I love you. Mary I love you." Now if you're an agnostic, you're in real trouble on this one, but i'd be remiss not to mention this solution as there are a number of avenues of "holy-istic" healing one can implement, in addition to using the essential oils God put on this earth for our benefit.]

[Update: hmm, maybe I had this all backwards?]

Did you know that Italian men would present women with basil sprigs to tell them of their romantic interest? And Italian women would place basil stems on their clothes to attract possible suitors! --EEO

Listen up, men! After preparing chicken from Whole Foods this Christmas (as an aside, I was told WF is the only store in the Chicagoland area that carries chicken without gluten, which is good info for those with allergies) and using Young Living Basil Essential Oil as a flavoring (which turned out very yummy), we couldn't help but notice, during the preparation, the wonderfully strong, spicy aroma of the oil.

Checking out the Young Living site, we found basil also "can refresh the mind and soothe the body, helping to restore mental alertness." We looked further online and found that "[t]he oil was extensively used for culinary purposes in the Mediterranean region and still forms the active ingredient of many Italian recipes such as pesto," so what better way to attract a Mediterranean woman than by wearing the scent of basil essential oil?

So, guys, throw away that headache-producing (and chemically-laden) Axe body spray (launched in France in 1983), and the age-old Old Spice (since 1938), and go with something refreshing, and soothing, and natural, from Young Living Oils instead (since 1989).

How to use: Place a drop or two (diluted with V-6 or other high-quality vegetable oil as necessary) on any of the chakras that apply; the wrists, neck, and/or behind the ears. Heck, slap a little on your face as well (but avoid the eyes).

In other experiments by Tainio (see this link for full post), he measured the effects of coffee, finding that even holding a cup of coffee lowers one's bodily frequency by 8 MHz and that taking a sip can lower one's frequency by 14 MHz. When essential oils are inhaled following the exposure to coffee, the bodily frequencies restore themselves in less than a minute, but if no oils are administered, it can take up to three days for the body to recover from even one drink of coffee.

Inflammation and Cancer

The link between cancer and inflammation has been strengthened in recent years. It is well known that the salicylates in aspirin which have highly anti-inflammatory effects reduce the risk of colon cancer dramatically. The natural salicylates found in the essential oil of wintergreen are very close in structure to the acetyl salicylic and acid found in aspirin. According to Erica Leibert of Harvard University, wintergreen oil is 40% stronger than an aspirin equivalent with very similar anti-inflammatory properties.

Clove has been researched as a potential chemopreventive agent for lung cancer, because of its powerful anti-inflammatory effects. The biochemical alpha humulene, found in balsam fir essential oil and copaiba essential oil, has also been shown to have significant cancer prevention properties through its anti-inflammatory action.

Boswellic acids found in frankincense gum resin also have powerful anti-inflammatory effects. Myrrh gum has been studied for its ability to combat various cancers, including breast cancer.

On this, my 60th birthday, I can easily say that without Young Living Essential Oils, I would not have enjoyed my birthday party anywhere near as much as I enjoyed it today. Young Living Essential Oils for herpes simplex type II

The Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2, is transmitted by sexual contact and results in sores or lesions. Four to seven days after contact with an infected partner, tingling, burning, or persistent itching usually heralds an outbreak. One or two days later, small pimple-like bumps appear over reddened skin. The itching and tingling continue, and the pimples turn into painful blisters, which burst, bleeding with a yellowish pus. Five to seven days after the first tingling, scabs form, and healing begins.

Antiviral essential oils have generally been very effective in treating herpes lesions and reducing their onset. Oils such as tea tree, melissa, and rosemary have been successfully used for this purpose by Daniel Penoel, M.D. in his clinical practice. A study at the University of Buenos Aires found that sandalwood essential oil inhibited the replication of Herpes Simplex viruses -1 and -2.

Those with herpes should avoid diets high in the amino acid L-arginine, substituting instead L-lysine. Lysine retards the growth of the virus. Foods such as amaranth and plain yogurt are good sources of lysine.

FIRST RECOMMENDATIONS:
Ravensara, manuka, tea tree, melissa, L-lysine supplement.

Young Living Essential Oils for schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety

NOTE: One should never stop taking their prescription medicines without consulting a medical professional first. While Young Living Essential Oils are powerful healers (for instance, I no longer require Xanax or Valium, nor do I miss them), a medical professional (one who believes in holistic care is helpful; I found my doctor via this list) needs to be your guide.

In our bloodline, we have had positive results from using Young Living Frankincense, Melissa, Rosemary, Peppermint, and Lavender oils (Brain Power has also been beneficial) for the challenges of depression, anxiety, anger, and/or stress. (Frankincense, Brain Power, and Sandalwood, are recommended for autism as well.)

Both Frankincense and Melissa as well as Rosemary (do not take if you have high blood pressure) and Peppermint and Lavender oils can be ingested, by placing 1 or 2 drops of the oil in a gelatin capsule and filling the remainder of the capsule up with V-6 Oil (or a comparable high quality vegetable oil) or the drops can be mixed in a 4 fl. oz. glass of rice milk/goat's milk instead. Brain Power can be placed under the tongue. We do not mix any of these oils together, but take them separately during the day or on opposite days.

On SCHIZOPHRENIA, from Essential Oils Desk Reference:

A neurological disease that involves identity confusion. Onset is typically between the late teens and early 30s. Abnormal neurological findings may show a broad range of dysfunction including slow reaction time; poor coordination, abnormalities in eye tracking, and impaired sensory gating. A missed opportunity Young Living? Frankincense and Myrrh could have brought Oakley gold

The accident that locked the miners more than half a mile below the surface occurred on August 5, the day of St. Mary Major. There were 33 miners [one for each year Christ lived here on earth] trapped and it took 33 days to drill the escape tunnel. The first miner came out on the first minutes of October 13, when Catholics remember the anniversary of the miracle of the sun that occurred in Fatima, Portugal in 1917. The date has a curious coincidence (10-13-10) if one adds its numbers the result is 33 ... (RenewAmerica)

Congratulations to all 33 miners, their families, and the rescue crew at "The Miracle of [seeing] the Sun [once again]" in Chile last Wednesday.

When the disaster was originally announced, I said to my better half, they should send the miners rosaries and bottles of frankincense and myrrh. When the men exited to safety after 33 days of drilling, we saw some indeed had rosaries, and they also each had (for their return trip to light) a pair of $450 Oakley sunglasses, giving the eyewear company oodles of free advertising.

Just think if Young Living had given away oils to the miners. Not only would the men have been much calmer (and filled with more hope) than they already were through prayer during their long stay underground, but they could have exited with their skin in star condition, smelling like a Latin Mass and Young Living would have (in addition to frankincense and myrrh) more gold (and pleased customers) as well.

If there's one thing I've learned in life, however, it's that everything happens for a reason, even my "coincidental?" introduction to YL's oils which are helping me to feel young again, living life to its full potential. Thanks Young Living for a great product. And welcome home miners! That was one "Major" miracle, eh?

Anger ?#*%@# -- Young Living Frankincense Essential Oil to the rescue!

This morning, while peacefully surfing the Web, I was interrupted by screams, shouts, and a box being flung about; my older son was angry! Trying to talk with him would have been futile during his tirade (#*&%@#) so I offered him some Young Living Frankincense Oil, and he put a few drops on his chest and a few more on his back. I left and did some shopping, as he continued to get ready and then leave for work.

On my return from the store, I saw there was a note waiting for me by the computer (which even before I read it, made me happy, as it indicated he calmed down) and it said:

Sorry I was mad this morning mom. Thank you for the oils, they made me feel better.

I only wish I knew about these oils when our four kids (close in age) were growing up. Many an argument would have ended differently (positive, with less shouting). In honor of St. Therese "The Little Flower" (today is her feast day in the Catholic church), I wanted to mention a little about rose oil.

Roses of the Mountains

In the Apocryphal book of Second Esdras we read about "seven mighty mountains on which roses and lilies grow" (II Esdras 2:19). These mountains would have been in present-day Lebanon, Syria, or Turkey. In this scripture, we are talking about true roses--either the Phoenician Rose (Rosa phoenicia) or the Rose of Damascus (Rosa damascena) or both. Both grew wild and both were also cultivated. Both were called the "rose of the mountains." It is these latter species that contain the most oil and from which the Middle Eastern rose perfume industry has sprung since the tenth century A.D. Although not mentioned in the Bible, the essential oil of the rose was no doubt used by the Hebrews of the Old Testament as well as the Christians of the New Testament. It was definitely a part of the cultures of the Holy Land and surrounding countries.

Too Expensive to be Widely Used

Rose oil may not have been popular among the Jews and early Christians because of its cost, which was more than for any other oil, including frankincense, myrrh, and balm. As stated earlier, it takes 3,000-5,000 pounds of rose petals to produce one pound of rose oil, which makes it one of the most expensive oils in the world. However, its healing characteristics are outstanding, known for its benefits on all levels; body, mind, and spirit. Its electromagnetic frequency of 320 MHz is the highest known of all oils. It is one of the constituents of the oil of Joy [a more affordable Young Living Essential Oil].

As much as we would love to own a bottle of Young Living Rose Essential Oil (if used only for aromatherapy, it would last) only a mini-money-miracle would bring that about any time soon. We are, however, currently praying a 5-day novena to St. Therese of Lisieux, and if she rains down "a shower of roses" upon us, we will certainly welcome them with open arms. [UPDATE 10-12: Since completing our novena, my husband and I have found, in separate instances, a $20 bill, three singles and a quarter outside on the ground. Removing skunk odor from your dogs with essential oils

Mornings are the best part of my day; my husband and I bring our two dogs along with us on our walk to daily Mass. We hook them up to a bench outside, and we never hear a peep out of them. Today was seemingly no different, however, during the middle of Mass, we encountered the foul-smelling odor of skunk, so strong we were glancing around the pews looking for the perpetrator. I thought about the dogs outside, and sure enough, when we approached them after Mass, we realized pretty quickly they had been skunked.

As the smell is virtually impossible to remove with standard soaps, I was relieved to remember we had some Young Living Thieves Household Cleaner on hand. I diluted it and bathed both dogs (really rubbing in the soap and leaving it set for awhile). Had I had a full bottle to begin with, I would have bathed them a second time, but after rinsing and towel drying, I followed up with 4-5 pumps of Thieves Spray on each of their coats, and then topped things off with a few drops of Thieves Essential Oil, and it worked! Young Living Exodus II Essential Oil

Some researchers believe that these aromatics were used by Moses to protect the Israelites from a plague. Modern science shows that these oils contain immune-stimulating and antimicrobial compounds. Also, 90% of the oils sold as "essential" in America are food or fragrance grades and unsuitable for healing applications; they are not therapeutic. From Healing Oils of the Bible:

Temper tantrums, anger, depression?

We've got these emotions going on at our household from time to time, and we're not kids. So, while Young Living Frankincense Oil works fine on children (avoid using Frankincense on infants and very small children, though) it works great for adults too. A few drops of Frankincense (mixed with an equal amount of vegetable oil -- we use V-6 from Young Living) rubbed into the back and/or chest can snap a child/adult right out of a temper tantrum/angry rant. I've witnessed it myself; it's truly amazing. Frankincense (which is great for depression too) can also be placed on Vita Flex points/Chakras, which are shown on charts in Young Living's Essential Oils Desk Reference (a must-have book for the essential oil connoisseur). Our household is rarely without this wonderful oil.

Blood tests; easing angst naturally with Young Living Lavender Essential Oil

Recently, I changed thyroid doctors (I found a great one here) and in addition to his ordering new up-to-date thyroid blood tests, he ordered tests for hormones, food allergies, and so on. Young Living Thieves Essential Oil for cold sores

Being plagued with frequent cold sores, my daughter, son, and I, have tried just about every treatment on the market, and have found, through Young Living Essential Oils, the best possible remedy. Young Living recommends Peppermint Oil, Ravensara, or Melissa as well, but we have found Thieves to bring the most exacting immediate relief, with Melissa following a close second.

We place a drop of Thieves Essential Oil directly on the cold sore neat (without dilution) but it is strong, so you might like to add in some V-6 Oil (available through YL) or another high-quality vegetable oil (a drop or two to your liking). We repeat this 5-10 times a day. Since we've discovered this treatment, we've stopped several cold sores flat in their tracks. The trick is to catch the cold sore at the initial stage of tingling. If the cold sore is already in strong progress (like the image shown) our experience has been that Thieves will still help cut the healing time at least in half if not more so.

Holistic (alternative, natural) help (and cure?) for hyperthyroidism

After seeing a sour-on-holistic-means endocrinologist for about ten years, I decided to seek out a different doctor that would discuss with me some natural ways I was using to tackle hyperthyroid (without laughing at me). I was successful in finding a great doctor at this link, and after he spoke with me and looked at my blood results over the last couple of years, he felt I should continue on my same regimen; that I was on a positive path.

I have been taking 10mg. of Methimazole daily (on occasion 15mg.) for the last ten years for hyperthyroid, and am still doing so. Within the last two years, I've added a product that was recommended by and obtained through my acupuncturist called Thyrodex by Evergreen Herbs. I took four capsules three times a day with meals for several months and after receiving my regular blood test (I go at six month intervals) I was thrilled to see my Free T3 went from 4.56 to 2.95. I am also using Young Living's Wintergreen Essential Oil (which is listed under "First Recommendations for Hyperthyroid Graves Disease") in the Essential Oil Desk Reference, rubbing 2-4 drops (along with a similar amount of V-6 Oil, or more when required, like after a hot shower or sauna) on my neck over my thyroid -- and goiter -- 2-3 times a day, and, since I've been doing so, my TSH has gone from .01 to 3.41, which is beyond remarkable; I originally felt it might be an error.

[UPDATE: In October of 2010, my new doctor dropped my Methimazole to 5mg. a day (after I changed my diet to exclude dairy, wheat, and gluten, which I had just found out I was allergic to). My current blood results are TSH: 1.13, and Free T3: 3.2. This is the first time ever in ten years I've taken this small of a dose of Methimazole, and after the first couple of weeks, I'm feeling just fine (the elimination of the allergens certainly has benefited me as well). Young Living Frankincense Essential Oil for blemishes

This week my daughter, Therese, came home from college for spring break. She reported that her brother (who attends the same college) was fine after he had taken both Oregano Oil and R.C. Oil when he was home the weekend prior for sore throat/swollen glands/cough, and he was off to Florida for a one-week spring break vacation.

In discussing oils in general with her, she said that Frankincense Oil was working very well at stopping blemishes before they turned into flaring nightmares, and that just one little drop (neat, no added V-6 oil for dilution) right on the blemish seemed to do the trick. (I've also read Myrrh Oil will do the same, and I've tried Thieves myself and it works well also.) After looking about online for YL's recommendation, I found that the suggested dilution of Frankincense is 1:1, when used on sensitive skin, as it is a powerful oil, but she's pretty happy with the "neat" application, and until she has some sort of negative reaction (a redness of the skin) she's going to stick with that remedy.

The cures that come about through essential oil usage never cease to amaze me. I'm ready to place another order, and while I want to purchase my mainstays, I'd like to try a couple that are new to me as well. A wonderful array of products that work; thank you Young Living.

Healing swollen glands with Young Living Oregano Essential Oil

When my youngest son arrived home from college this weekend, he wasn't feeling all that well, something I previously knew about and I had asked his sister, who attends the same college as he does, to bring him some essential oil she had for his symptoms (yes, send your kids to college with healing YL oils). He had taken a drop or two of Young Living Essential Oregano Oil (20:80 with V-6 Oil -- a carrier oil from Young Living; any high-quality vegetable oil will suffice -- mixed in to dilute) in a gelatin capsule (available through YL) the day before coming home (and it helped his sore throat) but he still had swollen glands.

Another couple doses of YL Oregano in a capsule (every four hours), in addition to gargling with YL Oregano Oil (one drop only per 6 ounces of hot water; this is tough, it tastes horrible, but it works), and he was on his way to ridding himself of the swollen glands as well. By morning, his glands were back to normal. Thanks again, Young Living!

Dental appointments; easing angst naturally

Does anyone actually enjoy dental visits? We all seem to have our ways of getting through them, whether it be the use of "laughing gas," prescription Xanax or Valium, or just holding our breath and waiting it out. But did you ever think you could keep your heart rate down, your blood pressure normal, and a sense of calm throughout, all with essential oils?

I had scheduled a dental appointment recently, and, at the same time, realized my prescription of Xanax had run out (something I always used for dental-appointment anxiety). I wanted to skip refilling the bottle anyway, to use essential oils instead (as they were already working in a variety of other ways in regard to anxiety), so I looked up information on Lavender and decided I was going to use it on my next dental trip. After applying the wonderfully-scented oil to the back of my neck, my wrists, behind my ears, and even some right under my nose, I held tightly onto the bottle in one hand, with my rosary in the other, and sat down awaiting the doctor to arrive. Undertaking a 90-minute appointment, I wondered, how would the oil work? Well, as I waited for my heart rate to increase, and the sweat beads to follow, I was surprised when my thumps-per-minute elevated only very slightly. Taking a few deep breaths, breathing in the wonderful Lavender, I continued to feel ... pleasant actually, and with reapplication during the visit a couple of times (the doctor got a kick out of me, and was happy to see me calm) I managed quite nicely to get through what would otherwise have been one heinous trip to the dentist. Since I had a couple more visits in the future to complete the care, I used Lavender again and again with the same results. Not only did I not have to be concerned with a "hangover" from drugs the next day, or tinnitus from the "gas," I smelled really nice too.

The doctor gave me pain medication on my third trip because it was my "toughest" appointment of all, but I passed on it, joyfully walking out and going on with my day. The Lavender took care of the pain, too, evidently ... because it never came!
